A warm welcome to my website. Entering therapy can be an exciting journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation. Often people seek therapy when certain aspects of their lives feel unmanageable. This can show up repeatedly in personal and professional relationships, especially in times of transition. I believe therapy is one of the most effective ways to improve relationships with others by exploring and strengthening a trusting relationship with yourself.
Some reasons to begin therapy:
- You experience a pattern of confusing and painful interactions with family, partners, friends and co-workers.
- You are unable to feel and/or identify underlying negative emotions.
- Unresolved conflicts with your family of origin are unconsciously being reenacted in your current relationships with your loved ones.
- You have difficulty coping with a major life transition such as the death of a loved one, separation and/or divorce, the mental and/or physical illness of a loved one, or facing an empty nest.
Many of my clients have found that therapy often leads to a significant reduction in feelings of distress, improvement in communication, and effective problem resolution. Ultimately these outcomes cannot be achieved without an active effort on your part, both in and out of the session. After I provide an assessment, we can collaborate on your goals and treatment approach. As an eclectic therapist, I borrow from a number of treatment modalities. I will act as your guide and coach as you learn ways to build confidence in your decision-making and refine your communication skills.
